Blake and Shirley Morden founded the business in Winnipeg in 1959, supported by Blake's parents, Fred Sr. and Lily. Their children, Cara, Shannon and Fred, joined in as soon as they were old enough to help fold peanut brittle boxes.
That early family effort grew into a chocolate-making tradition spanning four generations. Hard work, determination and a continuing enthusiasm for quality have helped carry the business from its beginnings to the range of chocolates, confections and nuts it produces today.
Mordens' remains family-owned and operated, with an emphasis on premium ingredients and handcrafted chocolates and confections. It's a story of people learning a craft, passing it on and continuing to find new ways to delight their customers.
Mordens' Russian Mints earned the top prize for Best Chocolate Piece at the 1984 World Fair in New Orleans. They remain a signature part of the brand's chocolate collection.
The wider range includes chocolate-covered almonds and jujubes, assorted chocolates, peanut brittle and mixed nuts. That variety offers plenty of inspiration for sweet gifts and something to share around the table.
