Where good food meets tropical tranquility—right here in Brandon.
Nestled inside The Green Spot Home & Garden Center at 1451 Rosser Avenue East in Brandon, Manitoba, the Secret Garden Café offers more than just a meal—it offers an experience. Step through the doors and you’re transported into a tropical oasis where the scent of fresh coffee mingles with the sound of trickling water and the gentle rustle of banana leaves. It’s a place where lunch comes with a side of koi ponds, waterfalls, and lush greenery—even in the depths of a Manitoba winter.

The Secret Garden Café began its new chapter in March 2024, when The Green Spot proudly took over operations after the closure of The Secret Garden Café by Chez Angela at the end of January 2024. With only six weeks to reinvent the space, The Green Spot team breathed new life into the café, crafting a warm, welcoming environment where good food and beautiful surroundings come together in perfect harmony.
Today, the café specializes in soups, sandwiches, classic hot dogs, and baked goods sourced from Kuipers Bakery, a beloved family-owned local bakery. Soup lovers will also recognize the comforting flavors of Chef in the House soups—available hot and ready to enjoy in the café or as frozen take-home options in The Green Spot’s gift shop. And yes, our signature hot dog is just three dollars plus tax—a simple, classic treat enjoyed best beside the koi pond or under the sprawling leaves of our tropical plants.

But The Secret Garden Café isn’t just about food—it’s about community and connection. In August 2025, the café became home to the Leaves and Literature Book Club, a gathering place for readers who meet surrounded by ferns, palms, and flowering vines. Our café library invites anyone to settle into a cozy chair, pick up a good book, and lose themselves in a world of words as sunlight filters softly through the greenhouse roof.

Families love the whimsical touches throughout the café, like the towering Apatosaurus and fearsome Sabre-Tooth Tiger statues keeping watch near the koi pond. Children delight in spotting them among the plants, while adults enjoy the serene soundscape of the waterfall, the flash of orange and gold koi fish, and the tropical warmth that makes every visit feel like a mini getaway. Open year-round, The Secret Garden Café is a place where locals and travelers alike can slow down, enjoy fresh, flavorful food, and savor the beauty of nature no matter the season.
