West Coast Seeds - Santo Long Standing Cilantro Seeds

Santo Long Standing Cilantro is a productive culinary herb bred for excellent leaf production and slower bolting than standard cilantro varieties. Its fresh, distinctive flavour is essential in salsas, tacos, curries, chutneys, salads, and many Asian, Mexican, and Latin American dishes. Both the aromatic leaves and the mature seeds, known as coriander, are edible, giving this easy-to-grow herb double duty in the kitchen.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Selected for abundant leaf production and slower bolting
  • Fresh, distinctive cilantro flavour
  • Excellent for salsa, tacos, curries, salads, and garnishes
  • Both leaves and mature coriander seeds are edible
  • Ideal for succession sowing for a continuous harvest
  • Suitable for garden beds and containers

Growing Information:

  • Botanical Name: Coriandrum sativum
  • Plant Type: Annual herb
  • Season: Cool season
  • Light Requirements: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil Requirements: Rich, well-drained soil
  • Germination: Approximately 7–14 days
  • Optimal Germination Temperature: 15–20°C
  • Days to Maturity: Approximately 45–55 days for leaf harvest
  • Plant Height: Approximately 30–60 cm

Seed Details:

  • Seed Type: Open pollinated
  • Variety: Santo Long Standing
  • Special Characteristics: Slow-bolting variety selected for extended leaf production
  • Edible Parts: Fresh leaves and mature coriander seeds

Suggested Uses:
Direct sow outdoors in spring once the soil can be worked, planting seeds shallowly in well-drained soil. Cilantro develops a taproot and generally performs best when sown directly rather than transplanted. Sow small batches every 2–3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh leaves. Harvest leaves as needed for salsa, tacos, curries, salads, chutneys, and garnishes, or allow plants to flower and set seed for harvesting as coriander.

Seed packet includes planting instructions. Results may vary based on growing conditions.
