Preparation Instructions

All you need:

  • Mac & Cheese seasoning (included)
  • 250 g (1 cup) macaroni
  • 45 mL (3 tbsp) salted butter
  • 15 mL (1 tbsp) flour
  • 375 mL (1½ cup) milk
  • 125 g (½ cup / 4 oz) cream cheese
  • 500 mL (2 cups) aged cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 15 mL (1 tbsp) dry breadcrumbs

All you do:

  1. Preheat oven to BROIL and set aside 30 mL (2 tbsp) of cheddar for topping.
  2. Cook macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water for 10 minutes.
  3. While pasta cooks, melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Blend in the seasoning mix, then stir in the flour until well combined.
  4. Whisk in the milk, raise the heat (careful not to boil over), and cook until slightly thickened (about 5 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese and cheddar until melted.
  6. Mix in the cooked and drained macaroni.
  7. Top with reserved cheddar and breadcrumbs.
  8. Broil briefly—just until the topping is melted and crisp. Watch closely!

Optional Enhancements:

  • Add frozen broccoli florets to the boiling pasta for colour
